A natural, often frustrating part of aging is the gradual loss of your eye’s ability to focus on nearby objects. Symptoms often arise during your early to mid-40s and continue to worsen until around age 65 when cataracts start to form.
You may become aware of symptoms when you start holding phones and books at arm’s length to read them. Presbyopia is managed traditionally through glasses or contact lenses. There is a new treatment option in a prescription eye drop called Vuity. Surgical treatment options are LASIK and cataract surgeries. Doctors and staff at Vision Optique are experts in helping you find the right solutions that match your lifestyle and visual needs. The newest treatment options are listed below:
New Vuity prescription eye drops to reduce the need for readers
VUITY™ (pilocarpine hydrochloride ophthalmic solution) 1.25% is a prescription eye drop used to treat age-related blurry near vision (presbyopia) in adults.
As we age, it becomes harder to see up close. Vision Optique is among the first clinics in the country to offer this FDA-approved eye drop. A comprehensive annual eye exam and OPTOS retina image within the past 12 months are required before doctors can prescribe this eye drop.
New Upneeq prescription eye drops to reduce droopy eyelids
UPNEEQ® (oxymetazoline hydrochloride ophthalmic solution), 0.1% is a prescription eyedrop used to treat acquired blepharoptosis (droopy eyelids) in adults.
84% of patients in clinical trials had some form of improvement, 74% of patients had more than a 50% improvement.
In addition, patients notice reduced lower lid eye bags and improved brightness of the “eye whites”.
A comprehensive annual eye exam and systemic health review within the past 12 months are required before doctors can prescribe this eye drop.
